About

About Me

As a graphic designer, my work is a culmination of who I am and where I want to be. I create to make people happy through conceptual ideas and evoke emotions through design. My work is always based off a feeling that I try to communicate. I strive to create significant design. Optimism and positivity are concepts that I most strongly believe in, and many times they are reflected in what I make. I believe that the most important part of creating something is to enjoy every moment of it.

Website Design

Website

The Lost Spot.

I currently work as a Communication Design tutor at Parsons and I believe that coding is a skill everyone should have whether or not they use it. The Lost Spot is a website I created with an infinite scroll that represents the thoughts running through my mind, which I also consider to be hyperspace. It is inspired by one of the best movies ever made - Star Wars. It uses a combination of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. As you scroll, it takes you deeper into the vortex. It does scroll at the speed of light, so scroll at your own risk!

Metamorphosis

This is a redesign of the book Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka. The book is split into 3 parts and the designs draw from 3 major styles - Classical, Modern, and Postmodern. As the character evolves, so do these designs.

Part one (slide 2) revolves around the more Classical style of design with the wide margins and 65 character line lengths. There is ample white space which lets the rather dense text breathe. Part two (slide 3) focuses on the Modernist style of design with the use of symmetry and geometrical shapes. This is where spoiler pages and graphic text start to come into play. Part three (slide 4) is based off Postmodernist design and this section was the most enjoyable to design. This part allowed me to break traditional grid systems and create compositions. I also experimented with typography by using photographs of my letterforms created with my hands. This was done to capture the feeling of transforming back into a person and portray it visually in the form of type.

What zombies can teach you about KETO

How I got out of my flatlined weight loss and reformed my diet

I started this diet about two weeks ago on the promise that I would start to burn fat while I ate fat. Diets I’ve read about talk about how fats are bad for your body and lead to many issues down the road and so I had to do my research. “Ketones are an efficient and effective fuel for human physiology without increasing the production of damaging free radicals. Ketosis allows a person to experience nonfluctuating energy throughout the day as well as enhanced brain function and possibly resistance to malignancy.” Explains Dr. David Perlmutter. I love fats and strongly resonate with the term ‘phat’. So what’s the worst that could’ve happened right?

I woke up excited and motivated to begin this new phase of my life. It seemed pretty simple — just stick to less than 20 grams of net carbs and you’ll be fine. I was not fine. Every morning, I started my day with black coffee and a tablespoon of coconut oil and headed to the gym. For breakfast I made myself some bacon and eggs. Yes, this was my breakfast everyday for 2 weeks. Lunch included some protein and veggies, and dinner was pretty much the same. I snacked on cheese and pork rinds. Life felt great. Then came days 3, 4 and 5. I did expect the “Keto flu” to set in but I did not anticipate how I would feel. I started getting nauseated from all the fatty foods and my energy  levels just dropped. Getting out of bed every morning felt like a task on its own. Me being in charge of all my “responsible life decisions” managed to haul my to be toned glutes to the gym. Worst decision of my life. I felt drained compared to everyone else there; a fish out of water — not just because I was flopping around on the floor and heaving, but rather plain exhausted. So naturally I did not go back to the gym for the next few days.

It has been two weeks since I started and I am still discovering things about this diet. So far, I learnt three important lessons. The first and most important one being your bra size drops faster than your dress size. Sad yet true. The second is that I have way more self control than when I started. I look at foods I technically can’t eat in a way that I can eat them, but I choose not to. The third and final lesson being you don’t pick a diet, but rather the diet picks you. I feel so content with what I eat and my energy is back up. Even my migraines have decreased. So it’s more of a life change than it is a “diet”. For those of you who are sitting under the diet sorting hat, may the odds be ever in your favor.
